Deborah Lynn Morgan, Executive Director of Palm Beach Harvest.

Palm Beach Harvest is a non-profit, community-based organization of volunteers who collect and transport donated non- perishable food to non-profit distribution centers throughout Palm Beach County.

Thousands of pounds of perfectly good food are thrown away daily (millions yearly) while children and adults go hungry. It seems unbelievable, but in America, throwing away good food is commonplace. While thousands of people starve, literally mountains of perfectly good, fresh, nutritious food are tossed in the garbage. Palm Beach Harvest “rescues” this food and provides it to food pantries and soup kitchens for free distribution to hungry people, the average age of whom is nine years. 52% of Palm Beach County residents live at or below the poverty level. 185,000 people miss meals every month because there is no food available to them.

Palm Beach Harvest utilizes 250 volunteers who donate two hours per week, rescuing several million pounds of food per year. They give their time and use their vehicles to salvage perfectly good food literally from the garbage heap to the tables of needy families.

Palm Beach Harvest provides opportunities for hungry people to partake of six million meals per year that wouldn’t otherwise exist.
