The House of Representatives are actively debating the upcoming vote over increasing the Federal debt limit from it's existing limit of $14.3 Trillion. The current proposed increase is $2.3 Trillion which is anticipated to meet the Treasury needs for a 2 year period. There is significant resistance among the House Republicans to not increase the debt limit at all (the Tea Party Caucus members are leading this position), or to negotiate commited spending reductions in exchange for the enabling vote. I believe the House Republicans are missing a golden opportunity to negotiate a "never again" clause(s) or other game changing legislation in exchange for their vote.
