Karen Litzy is a physical therapist with a concierge physical therapy practice in NYC. She earned her Masters degree in Physical therapy from Misericordia University and is about to start her Doctorate degree in physical therapy from her alma mater. She is part of the media corps for the American Physical Therapy Association and is the host of the radio show Healthy Wealthy & Smart which can be found on iTunes and talkingalternative.com.

Karen spends time on this episode debunking some of the common myths surrounding the practice of physical therapy, such as:

  • You only see a PT when you are injured
  • Treatments are modality driven (ie ultrasound, estim, heat and cold)
  • PT's are just glorified trainers
  • You can only see a PT if you have a MD referral
  • PT's only treat orthopedic, sports injuries, or post surgical patients
  • A PT can not diagnose a problem
  • PT's don't want to collaborate with other health and fitness professionals

Hosted by Joshua Margolis.
