There's a whole lot of praise and controversy surrounding the hCG diet (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), which, according to wikipedia is derived from "a hormone produced during pregnancy that is made by the developing placenta after conception...." Our guest is Kamau Kokayi, MD., who received his medical doctorate from Yale Medical School, and completed his residency with board certification in Family Medicine. He is versed in many of today's most popular natural health treatments including the so called "hCG Diet Therapy". Some of his other practices include clinical nutrition, detoxification, chelation, intravenous vitamin therapy, craniosacral therapy, and phytotherapy to name just a few models for the management and treatment of a wide variety of conditions. Today's show places a spotlight on the hCG weight loss program that can be administered orally or through injections along with a strict low calorie food diet. Some people rave about it believe it to be an amazing method for weight loss and keeping it off. Then there are the skeptics and those who believe it's a pure scam. We pose some tough questions to Dr. Kokayi such as: Doesn't the strict diet create the weight loss on its own without the hCG shots? Does it work for the long term? If it's not regulated by the FDA, can it still stand as a legitimate diet therapy? Does it work for everyone?  What, if any, are the most common side effects? Are headaches a common side effect?
