When we are scared, challenged, hurt - those are the times we need courage the most.

The word "courage" comes from the French word "coeur", meaning heart. What this means is that courage is all about settling into action/non-action that arises from the heart of us, from what is truly in alignment with who we are, what we feel to be best, and what we need to do next. Courage comes in so many, many forms. As many as there are people:

  • Walking forward in faith, when you can't see the outcome. That's courage.
  • Standing stock still instead of rushing forward when everyone else is rushing, because you have a different vision. That's courage.
  • Keeping going, and also finding new ways to keep going, when the dream seems to be fading. That's courage.

What does it actually take to exercise your courage?

  • Knowing what feels right to you, and choosing to say YES to that, is one way that we exercise our courage. Knowing that it is all about responding to life with our feelings, rather than with the mind alone, is in itself a courageous exercise.
  • To allow yourself to be more fascinated with and committed to what is on the other side of fear, than you are to be in thrall to the feelings that are holding you (temporarily!) down.

In this episode we are going to talk about what it takes to actually exercise your courage: all the faces courage can wear, and the ways that you can walk with courage in your life in a way that leaves you flexible and responsive - not militant and rigid.
