"Just be yourself", I once said to a long-ago boyfriend, and he looked at me as though I had asked him to turn into a woman on the spot.
I realized that "being yourself" isn't a given, especially when we have practiced being what we think everyone else wants us to be, for a long, long time.
We have a true voice, true strengths, true aspects of our being, but we may not know it yet. Or if we do know it, we may have not yet accepted it.
