Candlelight Vigil for Willie (William) Brown - on Sunday-September 28th 2008 -starting at 10:30pm!

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Humanity,

My intention is to hold a candlelight vigil for Willie (William) Brown on September 28th starting at 10:30 pm in front of the Omaha Douglas County Courthouse (North side of Building) in Omaha, Nebraska.

Willie Brown a human being of color was forcibly removed from the Omaha Douglas County Courthouse on Sunday - September 28th 1919 at around midnight and brutally lynched/murdered by a enormous crowd of 4000 unruly whites -- including men, women and children without even a trial on 18th and Harney in Omaha, Nebraska.

This occurred approximately one hour after there were several unsuccessful attempts made to lynch Mayor Edward Smith (who - in my opinion - made several naive and inept attempts to protect Willie Brown from the mob), however he was rescued by three detectives who rushed to his aid!  Unfortunately, there was no such aid for Willie Brown either from local police or the National Guard who showed up after the dastardly deed was already done!

Willie Brown was one of several individuals who were murdered, beatened, maimed and terrorized during the Red Summer of 1919 when several cities in America erupted in unprovoked violent attacks on Blacks or People of Color by angry Whites!

The First World War started in 1914 and ended with the most notable of treaties - The Treaty of Versailles, signed on June 28th 1919 and the February Revolution which took place in Russia during the month of March 1917 -- a couple of years earlier -- indicates the backdrop that permeated the times.

Several years earlier the Springfield Race Riot of 1908 in Lincoln's hometown of Springfield, Illinois was looked to as the beginning of the NAACP

Again the unprovoked attack on Blacks or People of Color by White Citizens of the United States!
Black people in this country lived in a State of Terror.

Blacks & Whites in America - when they study the history of this country and look at it objectively can say unequivocally that Blacks have suffered terrorism not from Moslem/Muslim extremist, but by the hand of the most upstanding so-called "Good White Christian People of America" long before the modern times in which we live (Sept 24, 2008)!

Why, do I personally want to remember Willie Brown -- because the sins/evil/anger/insecurities of the White Citizens of Omaha, Nebraska was visited upon him that my father who was a child at the time might be spared from such a calamity and therefore here I am, Kokayi Ama Ufanifu - Human Being of Color -- ALIVE~!
