Appreciate all the American Trucking Network does for the trucking industry. Great site.

I'm sure we'll be doing more shows concerning the "lease" programs, but I have reiterated my opinion on these several times. Our last show on leases was on 4-13-09. You can catch that show here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/truthabouttrucking/2009/04/13/owner-operator-and-the-lease-purchase-programs My stand still remains the same: Stay away from leases!

update:Cr England told me that for the experience driver that they are no longer hiring company drivers or owner operators only "lease drivers" and you should have heard the push for why I should lease.

I was wondering if at some point you to touch on leasing again on one of your shows. I had to really laugh recently when I responded to one of the company's website looking for drivers and when I called the recruiter, and they said that they are only accepting lease drivers for experience drivers. In my opinion, the recruiter try to do the "pressure sale" by telling me that I have almost 1 year of unemployment in the last three years and I have one more month to go before I would be in eligible to work for their company, so I'd better act quickly. So I said, "okay" and she put me on hold and came back and said yes that I do qualify for one of their lease programs with no credit check and no money down. The costs of the lease itself was $450 a week, and with the other costs involved I would have to come up with an estimated $2000 a week at $.90 a mile with an estimated gross at $3000. That's possible if you're running up and down I-80 nonstop, in good weather, with no delays. The other thing I find interesting about this, is that I also requested a copy of the lease and the recruiter transferred me over to the leasing department where I left a message and have not heard back from them. This company is headquartered out of Salt Lake City Utah, and for me, I'm not going to enter into a legal contract without first carefully reading it over and having my lawyer look at it. What are your thoughts on this ? Robin
