Acne Cures and Treatments
Date / Time: 4/16/2009 11:43 AM UTC
I was shocked to find out that adult acne affects 25% of all adult men and 50% of adult women at some time in their adult lives. Acne is a difficult thing to deal with at any age. It can lead to social anxiety, depression and even make people feel worthless. Adults who suffer with acne get affected the same way a teenager would. One of the first things adults who are suffering from acne should realize is that they are not the only one, adult acne is more common than you think and there is an adult acne cure. The causes of adult acne could be several things. A lot of doctors seem to think that it could have something to do with hormone levels. When you go to your doctor, your doctor will do a blood test to check and see if it is a hormone problem. If it turns out to be hormonal then your doctor will probably just prescribe you a medicine that is used to balance your hormones.
Along with prescription drugs you can try the following to also help you with your acne problems. Wash your face gently twice a day with a mild soap to remove oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Try to style your hair away from your face so scalp oils don't irritate your complexion. If you have an acne problem on your chest or back area, make sure when working out you wear loose fitting clothing that does not absorb moisture. This moisture can change the way your body produces oil and can add to your acne problem or even cause an acne problem.
Do not squeeze or pick at your acne lesions. This can only lead to infection and can cause you to have a scar. If you pick at your acne, it will bleed and then if you are using some type of acne medication chances are that the directions will tell you that you should not apply it to inflamed or broken skin. So by picking at your acne, you have accomplished these two things, you have made yourself bleed and you have now prolonged the acne because you are unable to apply the medication.
