April is Alcohol Awareness Month.  Each April since 1987, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD) has sponsored Alcohol Awareness Month to increase public awareness and understanding, reduce stigma and encourage local communities to focus on alcoholism and alcohol-related issues.

Today, We will be sharing with LaTonya Summers Executive Director of Life Skills Counseling and Consulting with focus on the events that are planned for Alcohol Awareness Month.

Questions:

What are some of the issues or problems that Mecklenburg County faces concerning alcoholism and addiction, specifically among our youth? What are some of the short and long term effects that are experienced?  What, if anything do people do to try to resolve this issue on their own?  Are youth and their parents event aware that it's an issue?
