Today we are going to speak with Barbara Stagno’

Director of In Defense of Animals Responsible Research Campaign.

In Defense Of Animals is an International  Animal rights and Rescue Organization dedicated to protecting the rights, welfare, and Habitats of Animals.

For the past twenty years, Barbara Stagno has worked to expose and oppose the exploitation of animals and especially the use of animals in experiments. She has coordinated numerous campaigns to protest animal abuse in university experiments, successfully ending the use of monkeys in cocaine experiments at NYU and cat brain research at Rockefeller University. Barbara organized meetings with company representatives to protest the use of cats and dogs to test food products by the Iams Co. and participated with a coalition of international animal protection groups to serve a formal petition to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to require the use of non-animal methods.

Additionally, Barbara helped pass legislation banning circuses and rodeos in Greenburgh(Greenberg), New York and has worked extensively to oppose the killing of deer and Canada geese.
