Georgianna Meléndez joins us to discuss the Commonwealth Compact. The Compact is an agreement among approximately 200 Massachusetts organizations designed to address diversity issues through:

1. Making a serious commitment to diversity
2. Participating in ongoing workforce benchmarking

This unique diversity program does not involve quotas or other top-down injunctions for addressing diversity gaps. The benchmarking exercise is about gathering the data and letting the facts speak for themselves.

We'll talk about how this transparent approach has evolved and why a skills-based talent network has the potential to transform how we think about and address diversity issues.

About our guest:

Georgianna Meléndez is the Co-Director for the Commonwealth Compact. She has served as the Assistant Commissioner at the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, the Executive Director at Casa Myrna Vazquez, New England’s largest domestic violence services agency, and Executive Director at RESPOND in Somerville, a domestic violence agency serving Metro-Boston. In 2007, Meléndez was appointed to Governor Patrick’s anti-crime council. She has a BA from Bentley University and is a senior fellow for the Emerging Leaders Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston’s Center for Collaborative Leadership.
