In 1997, she authored the 1st edition of the History of Central Region, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc: Pledged to Remember. And in 2006 authored and published an extension of that work in the 2nd edition of the History of Central Region, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc: Pledged to Remember.
She is a life member, charter member of the Heritage Club, a member of the Capital Improvement Project=s (CIP) Loraine Green Club, and a charter life contributor to the Educational Advancement Foundation. She continues to serve the sorority as a guest speaker at sorority functions, workshop presenter and as a resource person at the local, regional and national level.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Her volunteer and community service is not limited to the sorority. She has served as President of the Parkway Community House Board of Directors, and served on the boards of Jane Adams Hull House and HRDI (Human Resources Development Institute). And currently serves as a founding member of the African American Legacy Initiative Board of the Chicago Community Trust and the Advisory Board for Urban Prep Academies and Parkway Community House, and is a member of the Hoffman Estates Chapter of the Links Incorporated.
Loann Julia Honesty King and her husband Paul J. King, Jr., established the Loann and Paul King Philanthropic Fund, in 2001, with the Chicago Community Trust, becoming the Trust’s first family donor advised fund established by African-Americans. They have two adult sons, Paul J. King III and Timothy Jay King.

Loann Julia Honesty King is Chairman of the International Program Committee. She was initiated into Beta Chapter, Chicago Illinois, on November 21, 1959 and has been an active financial member since the day of her initiation and a member of Theta Omega Chapter for more than forty years where she currently serves as Member-at-Large of the AKArama Foundation and Treasurer of the Theta Omega Foundation.
Her record of service has included almost every aspect of membership participation. She has served as the 21st Central Regional Director; Former Supreme Tamiouchos; a consultant to the National Headquarters; Basileus of both Beta and Theta Omega Chapters; elected, as an undergraduate, to the National Nominating Committee; an Incorporator and the first Treasurer of
the Educational Advancement Foundation; member of the National Program Committee; Chairperson of the National Economic Development Sub-Committee and chaired the sorority's first Economic Development Conference, held in Washington, D.C.; and a member of the sorority’s first International Business Round Table Committee.
