How did Tout Wars get started?

Tout Wars was created to bring together the writers and the readers, the experts, those who consider themselves expert, and those who long to be an expert. We are all an important part of this vital industry. The primary purpose of this leagues it to foster a sense of community in the fantasy baseball industry.

What will the Tout Wars website provide me?

This web site will keep you up to date on what is happening in our leagues. We know that other people's war stories can be boring, so our goal is to provide insight that will help you better run your own team. We are here to educate and to entertain. Nando DiFino from ESPN has a weekly column that runs throughout the season that is dedicated to the Tout Wars leagues. We will have his column linked from this site once it starts again this season so you can easily find it. Each of the participating members also create content on their respective sites throughout the year related to Tout Wars. Each participant's site is linked on the front page and many of the sites also have RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds that can be found in our Content Feeds section.

How can I follow along during the season?

We will publish links to the leagues once the draft is completed and teams are entered into our hosting site. You will be able to view current standings as well as current rosters. If you would like to view results from past seasons, please access the Past Results section of this site.

What is this Fantasyland movie I heard about in December?

In 2004, Sam Walker, of the Wall St Journal took on fantasy baseball's best of the best, competing for one season in the ultimate league, Tout Wars. Sam's journey was documented in his New York Times best-seller, Fantasyland.

The 2008 Tout Wars season is going to be filmed as part of a feature film documentary, produced by Wonderland Sound and Vision, and Sound Pictures. They have found one person to take over where Sam Walker left off. They will compete against the Tout Wars American League experts and have their entire season captured on film. The documentary will provide viewers with complete access into this person's life during the fantasy baseball season.

How can I participate in Tout Wars?

There is a double secret handshake that only the owners know. If an owner shares that secret, they are ex-communicated from the league forever and are required to draft Russell Branyan each of the next five seasons as part of the exit agreement. In all seriousness, Tout Wars is an extremely stable league with very little turnover as would be expected from a league of industry established fantasy baseball experts. Invites are distributed rather than solicited.
