Drastic Steps with Toni Harris with guest Dee Stokes and Antonia Vann

Dee Stokes is a teacher, evangelist, author, educator, and ordained minister Deanna M. Stokes spent 18 years as a basketball coach before retiring from coaching to work in ministry full time.  She worked at such institutions as the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Texas A&M University, Winthrop University, and the University of Nebraska as an assistant coach.  Stokes was head coach at East Carolina University, Winston-Salem State University, and Southeastern University.  She was also an Assistant Professor of Education at Southeastern.

Antonia Vann, is a nationally Certified Domestic Violence Counselor and Chief Executive Officer and founder of Asha Family Services, Inc. (Asha). Established in 1989, Asha is a comprehensive anti-domestic and sexual violence prevention agency located in the city of Milwaukee, WI. Asha, the first and only culturally specific anti-domestic violence agency in the State for African Americans, employs methods specific to groups among this population. Asha (a Swahili and Indian word meaning “Life” and “Hope”) is a private, non-profit, spiritually based organization that also works with incarcerated women and men since 1990. Asha operates 2 job training sites: Sistahs’ Cafe & Deli and Sistahs’ Nails & Hair Salon - These mirco-enterprises are both job training and job development sites for program participants to enhance employable skills and to create jobs. Asha’s approach is holistic also holding State license as an outpatient substance abuse treatment clinic.
