When I was growing up it seemed that people wanted me to be caught up in the same limitation of the norm that they were in. My family wanted me to be a Mims. The blacks wanted you to be black. The whites wanted you to stay back, and the world wanted me to stay within what was considered the norm. None of which I could do, and stay free being me at the same time.
