Cotter Home is a portal through which we share our thoughts, images, choices, and dreams. A number of years ago we started a journey of rethinking many of our decisions and their impact on our family, other people and the planet. This process has resulted in some significant changes in what we drive, where our electricity comes from, things we buy and what type of faith community we choose to invest ourselves in. For us this isn't a liberal or conservative debate so much as a matter of fidelity to God's Story and his call in our lives. We understand stewardship of the earth as one of many important responsibilities for all people. What has now turned into a passion first bloomed in our lives when we slowed down, began paying attention to the ordinary and put ourselves in the position of learners. Shrinking our footprint and moving towards more sustainable practices is where we began. However, we discovered we really resonate with the vision encapsulated in the Cradle to Cradle model. This view rejects the assumption that human industry inevitably destroys the natural world. Instead, it embraces abundance, human ingenuity and positive aspirations. Such a system, modeled on the natural world's abundance, can solve rather than just manage the problems industry currently creates, allowing both business and nature to thrive and grow.
