During my ministry career (35 years), at some point I have been guilty of putting more emphasis on the local church or my denomination, than the teachings of Jesus and the Holy Scriptures. We tell others to study the Word, yet we ourselves as leaders sometimes don't practice what we study. For example, Apostle Paul said let there be no divisions among you. Over the years of the church, leaders have been agents of divisions. Denominations are the result. We as a church, are more divided than any other national organization in America. As leaders and members of churches we sometimes forget that Jesus pre-dates our local church and denominations. In many ways we have shifted from Jesus as our foundation of truth and have put more emphasis on human structures and intellectual church gymnastics. To become better leaders and members we must turn back to what Jesus said about Him being the Way, the Truth, and the Life. That means everything He taught is to be heard and practiced by His followers. In Luke 6:46 He says, Why call me Lord, Lord and not do what I say? Shall we call Him Lord Lord? If so, we must do what He says. We will talk about it on Today's Word.
