A newly promoted Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) John Ribeiro shares his story of achieving a pinnacle award in the Toastmasters educational program.

District 86 is part of Toastmasters International, a growing organization serving 292,000 members in more than 14,350 clubs in 122 countries. Toastmasters International (www.toastmasters.org) was founded in October 1924 by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley at the YMCA in Santa Ana, California. It is registered as a not for profit educational organization in the state of California.
Toastmasters District 86 serves the heartland of Ontario from Sault Ste Marie in the north to Welland in the south, from Sarnia in the west to Markham in the east - and all communities in between - except Toronto. Created in 2008, District 86 has over 220 Clubs with over 4,500 members. Our clubs include community clubs, corporate clubs, university / college clubs, government clubs, and bilingual clubs.
John Ribeiro, DTM says: "Back in 2008 I was terrified of speaking in front of people, and today I have conquered that fear with help from my Toastmaster friends. A big thank you goes out to all of you [District 86 Toastmasters] for helping me attain the title of Distinguished Toastmaster."
