If you are considering the career of a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, you'll benefit from listening to these real-life stories of those who have gone before you. The Masters Degree does not in and of itself allow you to practice psychotherapy independently - you are then required to fulfill the requirements to be licensed in the state you will practice in. There are as many paths as there are therapists, and the reality of those paths may be untenable for some. However, for those who are clear on their purpose and committed to jumping through any and all hoops that are presented in the attainment of the MFT license, these stories will prepare you for what lies ahead. My guests include many colleagues who earned the Masters in Counseling Pyschology and related Masters Degree programs, some of whom went on the become licensed therapists, but others who became coaches or paraprofessionals in the nonprofit world and beyond.

Today's guest is Stacy Stoddard, a licensed MFT in both California and Florida, with a private practice in the latter, and on-staff therapist at Lee's Place in Tallahassee.
