Welcome to "Full Speech Ahead!" − the program where we look at communication in all its many facets, with an emphasis on the spoken word.  I'm your host, public speaking coach Milo Shapiro from www.PublicDynamics.com .

My guest today:  What's the connection between humor and healing?  Not just emotionally but in the hospital, too!  Humor is like a sixth sense and our bodies crave it as much as our minds.  And using humor effectively in communication can make us look smarter, more considerate, and more appealing.

Karyn Buxman (www.KarynBuxman.com) transitioned from nursing to public speaking when she realized she didn’t have to put in 12-hour shifts and could instead get standing ovations.

Through her 20 years of research and experience - along with Patch Adams and neuroscientist researchers - she concluded that humor is not only funny but can help lead an audience toward a positive, healthy and happy life.  Karyn’s inspirational, entertaining, and practical message brings audiences to their feet.  Karyn says her mission in life is to improve global health through laughter and heal the humor-impaired.
