The government--yep, we're using a collective term there cuz they're ALL dysfunctional--sits on the royal governing throne ... & doesn't govern. And what happens? We fall in a sinkhole. But then, a sinkhole comes about in Florida & sadly, a man loses his life because he literally dropped into it. His only "crime" was being in bed when this happened. Was it an "act of God?" An act of man vs nature? Do you realize how many of these happen in any given year? There have already been no less than nine in the US alone this year. And it's only early March.  Hypothetical sinkhole vs literal sinkhole. And an elderly woman collapses in an independent living facility. A nurse calls 911 but after being instructed to perform CPR, she refuses, saying the facility's "policy" doesn't allow her to do so. She can only call and stay with the downed individual until the emergency personnel arrives. What?! This is an ethical sinkhole. And someone done fell in deep. It's been a busy few weeks in the news, folks. Join Debbie Barth and Linda Alexander, the Three Wise Girls, as we talk about Sequestration, Sinkholes, & CPR ... & whatever else shows up on the radar. CAN Mitt Romney beat Barack Obama? Forget whether or not you like his persona, if he’s boring, he’s too rich … ya da ya da ya da. Bottom line—we need a Republican who can beat Barack Obama. Otherwise, hand a crown back to Barack & be done with it. Three Wise Girls, Linda Alexander & Debbie Barth, hash this out on Reality Radio, Thursday, 3/22 @ 2:30 PM. As always, fast & furious, we’ll throw it out & make you think. We’re getting down to the wire, & the Republican party's still deciding who’ll represent Conservatives in the 2012 bid for the White House. Questions to ponder: 1. Is Mitt Romney a viable choice ? 2. Can he win against Obama? 3. Why is he in the frontrunner spot if we don't really FEEL him? If he’s the likely nominee, shouldn’t we rally around his good points & get him elected? 4. Will Santorum be Romney's VP since Romney can't win certain parts of the country? Santorum’s a Christian conservative—maybe THAT’s the answer? 5. Any skeletons in Romney’s closet? Maybe he’s solid enough & that’s why he seems so boring. We can’t have it all! No conservative (or liberal) bashing. Not here to tell you how horrible Republicans (or Democrats) are. We're both unabashed conservatives who want a Republican in the White House. It’s our duty to figure out how to help make that happen. If runnin’ our mouths is our best offering, run our mouths we will. Hope you’ll flap your lips with us. We want your thoughts! Bah Humbug! Valentine’s Day calls up gooey images of love & affection. Pretty hearts in delicate colors. Confections of chocolate & assortments of sugar-coated cuteness. We think about being head-over-heels--romance, adoration being with a special someone. Valentine’s Day's a created “holiday.” If it were about love, we’d buy a gift on any day, wanting nothing in return. What of those with no special someone? Isn’t a pain in the arse to hear about such lovey-dovey stuff? Wouldn’t you like to toss that garbage at those who walk around in a V-Day fog of saccharine smiles? What about the Valentine’s Day Massacre? Did Al Capone feel warm-&-fuzzy when he murdered a bunch of folks that day? Did he plug ‘em. then go home to his wife with a box of chocolates & a dozen blood red roses? Think how stressful it is for guys. Jay Leno says, "Today is Valentine's Day. Or as men like to call it, Extortion Day." All that pressure to buy the perfect token, spend the right amount of money--if there isn’t a price tag involved, some girls will have nothing of it. What was the WORST gift you received? What’s been expected of you in return? If you’ve had a less-than-chipper Valentine’s Day, let us know. Linda & Debbie have stories. Whether talking football, chemo, or Charlie Sheen, Three Wise Girls tell their version of how it is. After all, it’s their reality. These ladies deliver entertaining and, occasionally, illuminating discourse. Listeners smile, or scream profanity. Either way, this is reality, and it’s entertaining. It’s Reality Radio. Three Wise Girls reality radio offers lively discussion on everything from poop to pigeons and all in between … maybe politics?! Never politically-correct and determinedly off-the-cuff and on-the-edge, Debbie and Linda shake up the airwaves with straight talk, craziness, and ALWAYS humor. These ladies simply want to share life … making you smile, yell, and possibly throw things at your computer screen. What’s life without passion? We are here to share with you a little bit about a woman that fell in love with this handsome, athletic guy. The man of her dreams!! They fell in love and got married, she had everything a young woman could ever want, a husband, a career, children in other words her own fairytale come true. Few years into the marriage, shortly after they had their second child, her husband ask her to stop working and take care of the children full-time; she agrees since he was in the military and they were comfortable economically. Shortly after that, he decided to sell her car, because there was no need to have multiple vehicles he said. Then he started timing her and checking the odometer in his car; if she was on the phone he will sit next to her and listen to her conversations. Later his attentions with her started changing, everything she did appears to be wrong the more she tried to make everything to his standards the worse he treated her. Suddenly one morning without warnings, he grabs her by the ankle pulls her off the bed and start punching her repeatedly. His excuse, he had a bad report from his commander. Once he calmed down he apologizes and he said it wasn’t going to happen again he said he will seek help and everything will go back to what it was. A week later he got home from work and he didn’t agree with what she cooked for him so he push her against the counter and start beating. This time she woke up in the hospital, no signs of her kids, or him; just few broken ribs and bruises everywhere but even then her physical pain wasn’t as great as the pain of not knowing the fate of her kids; Did he hurt them? Are they safe? Nobody, seems to have an answer. What happened next is tragedy turned triumphant! An avid movie watcher early on, Laura took notes. She had a notebook and when she re-watched a movie, and she did often, she’d review her notes and mark off that she saw it again. During school lunch each day, she read movie books. Later, after homework, she read more movie books … and she began “correcting” some of those books. So begins the story of a lady who’s lived and breathed movies all her life. There’s almost nothing Laura doesn't know about a movie. So when she began reviewing for “Classic Images” years ago, she became quite a sensation in classic movie fandom. She also reviews industry books——the wildly famous to the barely-known. Say Laura's name and anyone who knows anything about the industry knows who you’re talking about. If you’re an author with a book on classic entertainment—depending on whether Laura liked it or didn’t—you shake in your boots or bow at her feet. Her 2nd book, LET ME TELL YOU HOW I REALLY FEEL: THE UNCENSORED BOOK REVIEWS OF CLASSIC IMAGES' LAURA WAGNER takes what she did for Classic Images and removed buffers. This is no-holds-barred Laura—and that’s entertaining. The Three Wise Girls chat with Laura about her reviews and outlandish “outtakes.” She explains, “Because of space limitations, language or editorial changes, some of my columns have been altered. After all, Classic Images is a family paper....” Laura doesn’t go easy on herself, either. She has heard from those on the other side of her page. The book takes this into account by including some hate mail received. Join us June 17th for a conversation you won't soon forget. Before the Donna Reed Show, he performed in national commercials, gradually moving to more important roles and by 1957 he co-starred in the much-loved “Houseboat” with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. After the eight years on The Donna Reed Show he worked on a string of movies and television but each year the work grew less and less. There is little room in Hollywood for “former kid stars.” He made the move back to Connecticut and began a new adventure. Simon & Schuster gave him a chance to prove himself as a writer, and after 16 published books, he considers himself an author…when he's not being an advocate for working children everywhere they labor. A Minor Consideration- his not-for-profit organization actually began as a book, but the needs of the kids he grew up with and admired soon showed him that it was more important to actually DO something about the problems rather than just collect and record the stories. Today, there's hunger for nostalgia. Whether TV or movies, the market's exploding. Are you interested in Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Robert Taylor? The internet will show you how to find where you get the latest and greatest of everything about their lives. What if you’re intrigued by those names which not everyone immediately recognizes … Madge Evans, Colleen Moore, or Dean Stockwell? How do you find out about the lesser-known? Is it getting easier to ferret out details, or find old shows, or get photos and magazines and other entertainment-related ephemera? Do you even KNOW what ephemera means?! Join us on, the Three Wise Girls, Thursday, May 6, noon – 1 PM EST as we delve into the world of classic entertainment and e-commerce. We’ll talk to Cliff Aliperti, owner of things-and-other-stuff, an online home for everything related to classic entertainment. Cliff will talk about how he started his business, what got him interested, and how the internet has changed the nostalgia market forever. Cliff's been selling on eBay since 2000. Thanks to his uncle, he’s been in the nostalgia business—starting with baseball cards—since the mid 1980s. He moved into entertainment and has been at it ever since. He'll talk about his journey, how the market has changed, and what he thinks is the future of nostalgia-for-sale. We’re likely to have some surprise guests. Please call in and talk with Cliff about your favorite entertainment figure from days past, or visit our chat room. We want to hear from you! Three Wise Girls... chat room log-in at that page. These are the tormented souls who refuse to leave the sites of their demise. Michael J. Varhola authored Ghosthunting Maryland. He explains why Maryland is a ghost-hunter's dream. Just a few stories—the USF Constellation boasts three ghosts, including a sailor executed for dereliction of duty; the Gridiron Club is haunted by an old woman murdered by slaves; and Ellicott City, a quaint spot, is one of America’s most haunted towns. Mompreneurs are that group of women who run a business and raise children finding a way for the children to come first. My Three Wise Girls co-hosts can attest to this the day we had our power call scheduled and my daughter, who is now seventeen, got sick! Mom had to take her to the doctor and I had to bow out of the call to be with her. Thankfully my kids didn't get sick too often, but when they did, appointments were changed, networking events were missed and the home office was put to great use. All of us out there that have found ways to be at our kids ball-games, or dance recitals or class trip while working on growing our businesses have created a workforce where we don't have to sacrifice time with our children to become successful. We invite all you Mompreneurs out there to share your stories with the Three Wise Girls Thursday March 4th from 12-1pm EST on http://www.blogtalkradio.com/threewisegirls or email us at threewisegirls@gmail.com.01:00:00ThreeWiseGirlsnoMompreneur,Business Building,Networking,Parenthood,BalanceBecoming a Mompreneur was a choice that I made when my youngest was 6 and I have never looked back. The In's and Out's of Feb 14th!!! "Age doe not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age." (Anais Nin) Well - February 14th 2010 is just around the corner - we here on the Three Wise Girls show want to share the ups and downs of the day. Do you have a wonderfully romantic story to share - or are you Valentine memories filled with funny traditions - or do you just go to bed on the 13th and come back out on the 15th!?!? Whatever your tradition we want to hear all about it as we share the things we've learned about Valentine's Day and its history. Bet many of us didn't know that an imprisoned priest - Father Valentine back in the 3rd century sent the first note signed from your Valentine on Feb 14th - the day of his execution! Cupid - that sweet little cherub was the Greek God Eros - and it was later the Romans that made him into that cute little babe with the arrow. Now Valentine's Day is a 14 BILLION DOLLAR industry annually with more that 180,000,000 red roses and 36,000,000 heart-shaped boxes of candy sent to loved ones. However you celebrate - we hope that you will share your stories with us. Visit our blog http://threewisegirlsblog.blogspot.com for more of the history surrounding Valentine's Day.01:00:00ThreeWiseGirlsnoValentine,Love,History,Retail Sales,Funny stories"Age doe not protect you from love. You’ve bought the creams, listened to experts tell you why you’re losing your sexual desire, you’ve screamed when some of your hair falls out, you’re living in clothes made of “moisture wicking” material, and if anyone makes one more crack about a hot flash … you—will—KILL them! So what could possibly be funny about all this? Look at it from the other angle—what could possibly NOT be funny about all this? There’s that saying, “I’m out of estrogen, and I have a gun!” Of course you don’t mean it … right? But you’re just on the edge enough to wanna make people wonder. 01:00:00ThreeWiseGirlsnochange of life, boomers, women, funny stuff, three wise girlsOkay, unless you’ve lived under that proverbial rock for the last, oh, 30 or so years, you’ve certainly heard just about everything there is to hear abTeenage Gangs-The New Family Structurehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/threewisegirls/2010/01/28/teenage-gangs-the-new-family-structureLifestylehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/threewisegirls/2010/01/28/teenage-gangs-the-new-family-structure/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/threewisegirls/2010/01/28/teenage-gangs-the-new-family-structureThu, 28 Jan 2010 17:00:00 GMTTeenage Gangs-The New Family Structure "Young men ... you have value. You were not born to snatch the life out of people you don't even know"Rev. Ora Stearns-Smith In July of 2007, Rev. Ora Stearns-Smith got the worst possible call a mother can received. Her son, Aric Jai-Shon Lexing, had become the victim of a teenage gang shooting, and had died from his injuries. Jai was not a gang member ... not then ...not ever. No, he was a young man who had said yes to someone he barely knew, who asked him for a ride home after a party. Apparently, the passenger was on a local gang's hit list. As Jai and his passenger pulled up and stopped the car, the shooting started and the gang got their target ... and took Jai's life as well. Ironically, Jai had just received his Masters in Criminal Justice just two months earlier in May, 2007, and was waiting to pursue a career in law enforcement. Sadly, the lives of everyone that Jai had touched would be changed forever. Estimated (at best guest) statisics report that there are approximately 24,500 gangs in the U.S, and approximately one million gang members. More and more of our teenages (and younger) are turning to gangs to replace their existing family structure. Who is to blame, and what can we do about it? E-mail us your thoughts at threewisegirls@gmail.com, then call in this Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 and join in our conversation with Rev. Ora Stearns-Smith, to share your thoughts and comments. Time to blast the myths...Cougars are smart, savvy, confident women that are not ruled by a number - they are sure of who they are and not afraid to go where no one has gone before. Gone are the days where an older woman with a younger man is considered desperate, or a sugar mama. Cougars are the new 40ish woman that knows what she wants and isn't going to worry about what someone else thinks about her going out and getting it. So - are you a smart, sexy woman that finds that they are attracting younger men that see them for who they are - or are you the mom of one of the younger men that are mature enough to capture a cougars attention. Whatever side of the fence you are on...come talk with us about it. The Three Wise Girls want to blast myths, share our experiences and hear all about yours.
