Call in to speak with the host

There's a lot to talk about in racing in 2010, so let's get started! Our first-ever guest will be New York's leading Trainer (four years, so far), Gary Contessa. A warm, engaging, sincere man--I call him a horsemanitarian--who loves horses passionately and cares about their welfare, Gary serves as President of The Exceller Fund. He and his wife, Jennifer, have also graciously accepted the role, Honorary Chairs, for the July 21st fund-raiser at the Racing Museum in Saratoga to benefit CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services. Gary and I will talk horses, the 2010 Spring and Saratoga meets, his thoughts on Life as a Trainer—and whatever else he wants to discuss. We're honoured to have Gary Contessa as first Interviewee on "View from a Broad"—hopefully he's looking forward to it as much as we! What else will we do in Show 1? Time allowing, we'll recap recent racing news, including Quality Road's kickin' Donn victory, in which he broke his own track record. (Hmmm...seems that he has no emotional problems...could it be that he was handled correctly at Gulfstream, after some gentle time with NYRA's Bob Duncan and Roy Williamson?) Do we need two hours to get to all the topics? We'd love to consider the offerings of Spring: the Dubai World Cup in March. The Triple Crown. Re. Rachel v. Zenyatta: should that money to go Haiti relief, or must the show go on? We know that *I* have an opinion--what do YOU think? Tune in, and let's dice it out together. During our equine welfare segment this first week, we'll give a brief overview for those who may not be in the loop, and hopefully provide some food for thought to take you through the week and spur you to action. Regular Features: * Interview with a racing or other equine insider. Always someone fascinating, fun or opinionated. * What's Happenin' in Racing This Week? * Cause of the Week. * Rachel Update. * Letters from Listeners * Shout Out! * New York Racing Today. * My Final Word.
