David's Response to His Enemy's Death and You (1 Samuel 31 & 2 Samuel 1)

How is it that David held nothing against King Saul, when the King pursued him day and night for a very long time, to try and kill him.  The king lied about David, saying he had betrayed him. But when the king died, David honored him.

23 How beloved and gracious were Saul and Jonathan!
    They were together in life and in death.
They were swifter than eagles,
    stronger than lions.
24 O women of Israel, weep for Saul,
for he dressed you in luxurious scarlet clothing,
