God's Position on Women's Rights and You (Numbers 27)

Five women approach Moses and ask him to give them land, since their deceased father had no sons. The Lord honored the women's claim to have property. In fact, they got the land that would have been given to their father. God was way ahead of social times in doing this. Many laws in early America denied women basic rights to property; and women didn't get the vote until 1920! 

God is not a feminist, but He did demonstrate equal respect for men and women. When Jesus walked the earth, his disciples were sometimes shocked at the way He treaed women, elevating their status as human beings.
