Dr. Montgomery is a Professor of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle. He leads that school’s Geomorphological Research Group and is a member of the Quaternary Research Center. He has a B.S. in geology from Stanford University and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in geomorphology. His research interests center around the evolution of topography and how changes in landforms influence ecological systems and human societies. Dr. Montgomery, previously the author of King of Fish: The Thousand-Year Run of Salmon and Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations, has just published a new book, Rocks Don’t Lie: A Geologist Investigates Noah’s Flood. This new book casts a critical eye on the claims made by creationists about geology while providing both a tour through the history of the conflict between geology and theology and that of biblical literalism. We asked Dr. Montgomery to join us to discuss his new book and we were glad when he accepted the invitation. This is an altogether too often neglected aspect of the conflict between established science and creationism. Check out this fascinating discussion!
