Shoutn Season 2 episode 4: Politically Correct vs. Morally Correct

    By: “Timothy” Fred Parks

On this week’s Shoutn, I had intended to discuss the difference between the politically correct nuttiness and biblical moral standards by which we could achieve the kind of balance that some of the PC proponents are really seeking.

We’ve all seen the insanity of the pc police in our country over the last ten or so years. In misguided attempts to keep from offending people, words have been spawned like “African-American”, “Physically Challenged”, and “Alternate Lifestyle”. To me it has been obvious from the onset that these things only seek to created divisions among us rather than bringing us together.

It is out of fear rather than compassion that we created these division words.

    Fear?

Fear of ridicule, fear of litigation, fear of loss of reputation. These fears our not unfounded because of groups like the ACLU who have engaged in domestic terrorism through the court systems and the media.

However, the best laid plans of mice and men gang oft angly and I ended up kind of dealing more with the state of human relationships. The subject matter was still pertinent but still it took a slightly different avenue than what I had intended.

One of the points I don’t feel I was able to present as well as I would have like is the fact that as more and more regulation is created in attempts to protect civil rights, our rights are actually dwindling. The direction we are heading is a complete police state where the government dictates the morality of the people based on vague and over shadowing concepts.

So who is to say what is right and wrong? As ideologies change in our governing bodies, who is it that gets to dictate to the country what values should be kept and which should be done away with. Within this vein of thought we have already seen distinct attempts to squash the freedom of speech of Christians. The media and the left wing ideologs have painted a picture of Christian doctrine as being hateful and antiquated.

It is the Christian doctrine that has held back the flood gates of an “anything goes” mentality in this country. As this is eroded through things like Politically Correct doctrines even inside the Christian church we see a continuous shift to a dangerous liberality.

Once biblical standards are tossed out as our measuring stick then who will it be, to set the standards of which we consider good and evil, right and wrong?

    No one.

There will not be a way to set these standards because there will always be someone to say they are being mistreated by not being accepted and their faults are not being embraced as “ok”. Where is the line to be drawn? The more “open” our society has become the more we have allowed detrimental lifestyles to be acceptable.

What the pc mentality and liberal agenda is moving toward is nothing less than anarchy.

This is the first step to utter bondage. The more laws we have the less they mean anything, the less they mean anything the more we do away with the concept of law. Once that happens there becomes no defined lines of right and wrong and thus confusion and fear will spread.

Here’s a scenario that sounds impossible but bear with me just one moment.

Let’s say that a woman is walking down the street dressed in a short skirt and a blouse that is a bit lower cut than modesty would really allow for. A man who has had just lost his job is standing on the corner drinking from a bottle in brown paper bag. He’s inebriated and frustrated. The woman steps by him and glances into his face with a look of pity and compassion. The man drops his bottle and walks up next to the woman; he’s depressed and doesn’t want to be alone. The woman keeps walking but he matches her steps. She’s hoping he’ll take her silence as a sign that she’s not interested and she makes several stops on the way home at stores she really doesn’t need to go into, hoping she’d come out and find the man gone. He’s not.

She makes the mistake of going to her apartment hoping to get away from him but he follows her to the door. Finally she turns and asks the man to leave. His heart breaks. The rejection is the last straw. He grabs the woman and forces her to the ground where he rapes her. None of her neighbors say or do anything.

The man is filled with fear and panic. He forces her door open and drags her inside the apartment where he tries to figure out what to do. In his panic he kills the woman before running away.

Despite the neighbors not doing anything to help the woman, there was a security tape and before long the police have arrested the man on rape and murder charges. At the trial the prosecuting attorney admits rock solid evidence, the security tape, DNA evidence, and eye witnesses that place the man following the woman home.

It seems open and shut right?

That is until the defense attorney begins to paint a picture of a poor distraught and hurting man who can’t be expected to be responsible for his own actions. The attorney speaks eloquently about how the man had lost his job and was down on his luck. He continues to delve into the man’s personal history and highlighted the rejection of several girl friends along with the infidelity of his mother to his father.

Then when the jury is feeling especially sorry for the man, his attorney begins to describe the woman’s clothing and the look that she had given his client. He begins to highlight that the man has a fetish for short skirts. It’s his lifestyle, he can’t help himself. He has a disease, not unlike cancer. You can’t control cancer, how can you control this which is such a part of the way he was made.

    Jury votes to acquit.

You think this is far fetched. I say we are only a few years from seeing this very thing. Already we see the victim being vilified in the courts. If a man shoots and intruder in his house then he’s sued by the family and loses everything he has simply for protecting himself and his family.

Here is the beginning of the end of the society we know now.

The law is the stitching that holds together our society, once its removed utter chaos will in sue. When people become the most fearful and have had all they can take of this progressive environment, that’s when you’ll see a leader rise from the midst. He’ll put things back on track but to do so, you’ll have to give up your rights….all of them. It’s the only way to get things back in order and it will be welcomed with open arms.

    Chains chains chains.

The “Ask Timothy” section of the show featured a question from Jesuswept.

Dear “Ask Timothy“: What are the seven spirits of God?

    Answer:

This was a very interesting question. A couple of years ago I did a study on this myself. As I was reading the book of Revelation I really was intrigued by the mentioning of the Seven Spirits of God. Here are a few scriptures that mention the seven:

    Revelation 3

1And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

    Revelation 4:5

5And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

    Revelation 5:6

6And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

There are basically three major doctrines concerning the explanation of the seven spirits of God.

The first is that the seven spirits of God represent seven angles. We know from the text that there are many angels and creatures that attend to the thrown of God and worship day and night. This seems to be the basis for this teaching, however I believe that the scriptures are much more specific concerning the seven spirits than being some attending angels and there is a point to mention the seven spirits in context outside this capacity.

The second is that the seven spirits simply refer to seven attributes of the Holy Spirit. This doctrine uses Isaiah 11:2 as reference:

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;”

    The reasoning is this

    1. The Spirit of the Lord

    2. Wisdom

    3. Understanding

    4. Counsel

    5. Might

    6. Knowledge

    7. Fear of the Lord

This is how this doctrine breaks it down. One of the major problems I have with this is that the first one on the list is not an attribute as the others are. Using this scripture would really kind of point toward “six spirits” rather than seven.

The third is that the scriptures are actually referring to the Holy Spirit Himself. With this doctrine it states that “hepta” which is the Greek word for seven should have been better translated “seven fold”. God uses the number seven to indicate completion and perfection. This doctrine is the most reasonable of the major doctrines in this line.

I do have my own thoughts on this however. I do believe that the seven Spirits of God do refer to the Holy Spirit but my belief is that it refers to the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church of Jesus Christ and the reason I believe this comes from the context of the scriptures.

    Revelation 4:5

5And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

We know that the seven lamb stands are referred to as the seven churches that Christ has John write the letters to found in chapter 2 and 3 of Revelation. This scripture draws a direct connection between the lamp stands and the seven Spirits of God.

The next scripture makes it even clearer to me.

    Revelation 5:6

6And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

This is the work of the church by the power of the Holy Spirit. The disciples were told to wait on the coming of the Holy Spirit before beginning their ministry; the work of the church of Jesus Christ.

It is for this reason that through my study and prayer that I believe that the seven Spirits of God as listed in Revelation refers to the work of the Holy Spirit in connection with God’s church.

Hope that is clear, if not please ask.

    God bless
