Call in to speak with the host
Many people's understanding of friendship in northern societies is rather thin. We explore some classical views of friendship, the development of theory and practice in 'modern' societies, and some key aspects of the current experience of friendship.
When approaching the notion of friendship, our first problem is the lack of firmly agreed and socially acknowledged criteria for what makes a person a friend. In one setting we may describe someone as a friend and in another the label may seem less appropriate. We may have a very thin understanding of what friendship entails. In our show tonight tell us what will it take for a person to have or what do they need to do to be your friend?
We realized we all meet a lot of people every day and most of them are considered acquaintances and we would like to understand the different levels of things that need to happen before they can be considered friends.
We will also talk about the people that you have known for years and have called best friends. What are the things you are willing to do for them?
It is an important relationship that we all have and it will be great if we all have the same understanding on what it is.
It will be another exciting evening and conversation at No Filters. Tune in, listen, call in and join us at 8pm tonight.
