Self Publishing, and the Self Published Author

Many times people put off trying to write their own book because they feel like the process is going to be too complicated or too expensive.  If you are not careful, and you do not do your homework, both of those will be true.  I'm here to help you navigate your way through the often times murky self-publishing waters.

#1  Everyone who claims to have the keys to self publishing might actually know just enough to get people into trouble.  Anyone can read a few books, or download some text, and claim to 'know' what they are doing.  The main thing you need to find out is 'Don't show me how many books you have published, show me who they have impacted'  You see, to just show pictures of books that you have published simply means that you typed a lot of 'stuff' and had a company bind it for you.  More is definitely not better, it could just mean more junk

#2  Find someone who will share the real deal info with you.  If you are seriously looking to self-publish, then why would I try to publish you under my company?  If I am trying to help you, I have to show you how to start your own company, and get you linked up with the people that I print with, or the people who does my edits etc...  If I'm holding that info back, then what is going on is that I'm trying to make money off of you.  Now if you go to a seminar and pay, then yes, the person will make money by sharing the info with you, but if you are online, and someone is out here talking about helping, you should then be a little wary of the $$ factor

Those are the first two(2) things that I want to share with you.  I'm going to be doing a weekly blog on self publishing as I continue to grow and get better as a self-publisher, running a small publishing company
