The show is Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 3:00 CST - 5:00 CST. At 2 years and 10 months old, Elizabeth went missing from her front yard in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on June 13, 1965.  While the family has an idea of who took Elizabeth, they have not been able to proove anything at this point.  MJA began their investigation in 2012.   There is a strong reason to believe Elizabeth is still alive while many say she stumbled into the Mississippi River. Mrs. Eckley turned to all powers that be in Louisiana (where Marcus lived), and those calls were never returned.  We want to help spread Marcus' story and just maybe someone listening can help. We have had this case on our show previously, but today is Marcus' birthday & we have made this a day of action. Here are words from Mrs. Eckley regarding her son: "Marcus Anthony Merritt, Sr. was born May 25, 1975 and that was one of the happiest days of my life. He was my firstborn and only son. Growing up, he was a character, a real boy who enjoyed pretending he was a cowboy. I told him after he was grown that he truly turned into one because, he owned and loved riding his horses. When Marc was around, people tended to gravitate towards him, he made you feel at ease, laugh and genuinely welcome. Beauchamp!  Keith is an award winning filmmaker He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, studying Criminal Justice with hopes of becoming a civil rights attorney.  As a young man, Keith has his share of "run-ins"with racism which I hope he will discuss on the show.  Keith decided after this incidents to move to New York City and this is where he began his film making career.  Through this feat, Keith was able to tackle some of the past and present injustices that plague communities abroad. In New York City, he obtained employment at Big Baby Films.  The company focused on music video production.where he honed his skills behind the camera. After work, he dedicated much of his time researching Emmitt Till, his death, and all that followed.  Keith also has a show on the ID network ( http://www.investigationdiscovery.com/tv-shows/injustice-files/ ).Keith was forever changed by the Jet magazine he saw at the age of ten which coveted young Emmitt's death. We will talk more about this on the show, but his investigative journalism has led to files being reopened and he began collaboration with the FBI with it's "Cold Case" Initiative.  Keith also opened his own company by this time - Till Freedom Comes Productions.  Keith is currently working on two very important films and documentary which I want him to tell you about. His work helped put four Klansmen behind bars giving justice to these families: Medgar Evers; the four beautiful young ladies in the Birmingham church bombing; Vernon Dahmer; and, Chaney, Goodman, & Schwerner (aka, Mississippi Burning case) After winning the prestigious George Polk Award for a second time, Mitchell received a MacArthur genius grant — only the second investigative reporter to ever receive the $500,000 award. Others have also noticed his work. In 1996, filmmakers portrayed him in the movie Ghosts of Mississippi about the reopening of the Medgar Evers assassination.  In October 1998, Mitchell was recognized a at the Kennedy Center in Washington. ABC's Chris Wallace told those gathered for the Anti-Defamation League event, "Jerry Mitchell isn't comfortable being called a hero, or being portrayed as one in the film, Ghosts of Mississippi. It is difficult, however, to find a better word than 'hero' to describe Jerry Mitchell. Today, justice has been served, and Sam Bowers and Byron De La Beckwith grow old in jail." Mitchell received his degree in journalism at Harding University in 1982, a master’s in journalism from Ohio State University in 1997 & an honorary doctorate in law from Colby College in 2006. In 1997, she returned to Mississippi after receiving a merit based scholarship and in 1999 received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law, graduating a full semester ahead of her classmates. Ms. Riley-Collins is an attorney licensed to practice in both state and federal courts. An advocate for quality representation and equal justice for all she has been a speaker both across the country on issues related to providing zealous representation to juvenile clients. She has coordinated the legislative advocacy efforts aimed at reforming Mississippi’s juvenile justice system and de-institutionalizing at-risk youth. Merritt, Sr.?On January 4, 2013, Mrs. Royce Eckley received the phone call any parent dreads.  Her son, Marcus, was dead.  She was told her son had comitted suicide.  However, upon further investigation, all were lead to believe that this was not the case. Mrs. Eckley turned to all powers that be in Louisiana (where Marcus lived), and those calls were never returned.  We want to help spread Marcus' story and just maybe someone listening can help. Here are words from Mrs. Eckley regarding her son: "Marcus Anthony Merritt, Sr. was born May 25, 1975 and that was one of the happiest days of my life. He was my firstborn and only son. Growing up, he was a character, a real boy who enjoyed pretending he was a cowboy. I told him after he was grown that he truly turned into one because, he owned and loved riding his horses. When Marc was around, people tended to gravitate towards him, he made you feel at ease, laugh and genuinely welcome. He liked to cook out but, we knew if he was in charge of cooking IN, it was going to be hot dogs lol. Once Marc told me, " Momma, it couldn't have been easy for you being a woman to raise a man but, you did." That really made me feel good because, I did my best. He was truly loved by all who had the joy of knowing him and in turn we knew we were also loved. He was a wonderful Daddy who his kids adored. Adrianne is a comedian who just happens to also be Native American.  Adrianne was recently thrown into the spotlight this week when comments that were insensitive to Native Americans surfaced from a show by Ralphie May.  We will to disciuss this matter, but also discuss Adrianne's career! Adrianne Chalepah is an American Indian (Kiowa/Apache) entertainer from Anadarko, Oklahoma. Growing up she experienced much hardship immersed in poverty and alcoholism; however, she’s believes this prepared her for a career in stand up comedy and motivational speaking, which began while attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where she made her stage debut and studied filmmaking. In 2009 she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts; and in 2010 her comedy career took off when she teamed up with the popular comedy troupe 49 Laughs Comedy. Since then, Chalepah’s performances have gained recognition, landing her features in magazines and on television. In 2012 she was honored to open up for the First Lady Michelle Obama at a campaign event. Passionate about indigenous/female empowerment, she formed the world's only all-female, all-Native American comedy group, Ladies of Native Comedy. Since 1989, the investigative reporter for The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS, has unearthed documents, cajoled suspects and witnesses, and quietly pursued evidence in the nation’s notorious killings from the civil rights era. His work helped put four Klansmen behind bars giving justice to these families: Medgar Evers; the four beautiful young ladies in the Birmingham church bombing; Vernon Dahmer; and, Chaney, Goodman, & Schwerner (aka sadly, Mississippi Burning case) After winning the prestigious George Polk Award for a second time, Mitchell received a MacArthur genius grant — only the second investigative reporter to ever receive the $500,000 award. Others have also noticed his work. In 1996, filmmakers portrayed him in the movie Ghosts of Mississippi about the reopening of the Medgar Evers assassination.  In October 1998, Mitchell was recognized a at the Kennedy Center in Washington. ABC's Chris Wallace told those gathered for the Anti-Defamation League event, "Jerry Mitchell isn't comfortable being called a hero, or being portrayed as one in the film, Ghosts of Mississippi. It is difficult, however, to find a better word than 'hero' to describe Jerry Mitchell. Today, justice — long delayed — has been served, and Sam Bowers and Byron De La Beckwith grow old in jail." Mitchell received his degree in journalism at Harding University in 1982, a master’s in journalism from Ohio State University in 1997 and an honorary doctorate in law from Colby College in 2006.
