LISA TYRRELL PERRY-AMOS Lisa Tyrrell Perry-Amos, former accountant turned literary entrepreneur! Raised, by her grandmother, in Somerville New Jersey, she experienced unconditional love and nurturing. At 19, she met and married her first husband. The union blessed her with the eldest of her two beautiful daughters. After her divorce and some much needed time, she entered her second marriage, yet there was a darkness brewing behind closed doors. This relationship turned abusive, very early in the marriage, leaving her no option but to remove herself and her children from this unhealthy alliance. Lisa moved to Georgia, however she returned to New Jersey where she met Novel Tees. This proved to be the catalyst she needed for change. Under the steady hand and mentorship of Novel Tees, who was in the process of opening up a book store, a vision was birthed within her. Lisa began to network with authors and musicians, which has lead her to the dream of opening her very own book store. Her trademark, Word on da Street, is the name of her radio show which she co-hosts with her sister Shalona Amos. The platform, educating and giving a voice to persons of abuse, has encouraged and supported many. She, also, has a passion for books and those who read them, as well as all genres of music and she uses the radio show to promote their work. Word on da Street Urban Book Store, opening in the spring of 2011, will be the home for many African American authors and musicians, thus affording Lisa the opportunity to allow many to achieve their dreams.
