Growing up in Gary, Indiana during a time when the steel mills provided a solid foundation for many children (following the Civil Rights Movement) was a true blessing. However, there was an "underground culture" that provided an abundance of life that involved drug dealing, prostitution, and absent fathers in homes. If there was a male figure he was usually a family member or step-father who didn't permeate unconditional love for all the children in the home. The culture we define as "The Underground" defines the 40 years GOD has spared my life. As a result of all my spared trials and tribulations through my human journey, I'm able to share a humbling story of "My Personal Underground". I envision my experiences, challenges and successes to inspire the mothers who feel like giving up on their children, the father who has been absent in their child(ren's) life, the child who has "drowned" their own hopes and dreams and others who need encouragement to fulfill their purpose in life.
