Our guests this morning are Andrea and Eric Busch.

Andrea and Eric are the proprietors of Electric Bikes LA in El Segundo and while Andrea handles the day to day business, it was Eric’s idea to open an alternative transportation shop.

Eric is Executive Director of Corporate Safety at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

He is responsible for worldwide Corporate Safety and Environmental Affairs and has been in the Environmental field for over 20 years - first at Northrop Grumman and now at Sony.

Eric also served 8 years as an El Segundo City Councilman and as Mayor.

Looking to practice what he preached in his environmental efforts at Sony as well as in his position as Mayor, he recognized the waste of driving to work alone every day in a large SUV - a necessity when you have four kids – yes, four kids.

He began looking into alternative forms of transportation, did some research on electric bicycles and found that there were only 3 stores in the US selling e-bikes.

When he began commuting to work on an electric bike, people were constantly asking to try it and asking where to get one.  At the time, Andrea, an employee of an aerospace company, was ready for a career change and Eric came up with the idea of opening an alternative transportation stop.

This week, Senator Ted Lieu presented Electric Bikes LA owners Eric and Andrea Busch with the 2013 ‘Business of the Year Award’ for his Senate district as part of an annual tribute to small business.
