David H. Malin Port of Los Angeles Preparedness Coordinator

Our guest this morning is David Malin.

David has a total of 31 years, active and reserve, in the United States Marines and is now working in the private sector as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Port of Los Angeles

He is responsible for all aspects of Emergency Management for the Port and assists in developing, administrating and coordinating the emergency planning and emergency operations programs.

David interfaces with various city departments and other governmental and private entities to develop and implement emergency preparedness programs for City employees.

He is responsible for coordinating drills and exercises of emergency plans and preparing After Action Reports.
 
He also serves as a board member on the Emergency Management Committee for the City of Los Angeles which directly influences policies and procedures regarding Emergency Management for the residents of the City.

David is a working group member for Operation Archangel, LAPD, which has been approved by DHS to become the nationwide platform for the Buffer Zone Protection Plans.  

He brings a unique perspective to the Emergency Management field with a broad telecommunications and information technology background.
