Our guest this morning is Steve Aspel, District 1 Council Member for the City of Redondo Beach, California.
A life-long South Bay resident, Steve also serves as Vice Chair for the Redondo Beach Redevelopment Agency.
Aspel was a Rotary Club Past President, former Planning Commissioner and the 2004 Redondo Beach Man of the Year.
A respected local business owner, Aspel recently celebrated his 35th year with Farmer’s Insurance.
A vocal and active member of the community, he was the driving force behind a much needed renovation of the Esplanade, Redondo’s signature stretch of Pacific coastline.
For his final term on the City Council, Aspel made it his mission to see the Esplanade renovation through to completion but is quick to point out he didn’t do it alone.
Steve said in an interview, “Without the support of the mayor, city council and staff, it never would have happened. Our staff kicked ass on this project and they deserve all the credit even though they kid me about renaming it the Aspelnade.”
