  My mother broke my heart when she passed away when I was 12. Like men, I had placed her on an unreachable shelf as many boys do their moms. I envisioned her as being indestructible because of that Superwoman cape she wore all the time. In my book, Keeping It 100: Being Your Authentic Self, I came to the realization that like many people of the hip-hop generation I was afflicted with what I call “MJB Syndrome.” This is the desire for real love, the aspiration to be happy that leads to avoidable hurtfulness until you emerge just fine and have to come to the revelation that you too grow stronger with each tear.

   

  I’VE GOT A QUESTION?

  If a person gives you a STD do you think you have the right to physically respond?

  Should the size of the victim determine whether they are able to respond or not?

   

  Women afflicted with the rage virus think they can ‘pop off on a dude’ and dare him to hit them back with the threat she’ll get her brothers or others to retaliate. She emasculates him with physical violence and castrates him with verbal intimidation. This heightened level of aggression is a combustible mix of chaos and confusion. Are you a victim of the rage virus? What happens when women attack?

   

  62% of 40 men ages 18-24 said: “you smack me, I’ll smack you back.”

  38% of 40 men ages 25-34 said: “restrain her and then get away when you can”

   

  CASE IN POINT She calls you mid-afternoon and says, “What are you doing?” When you tell her you’re studying or working, she ignores you and begins oversharing. She wants you to come over. “Now?” you ask. “Yes now,” she responds with divattitude. If you’re not there in 10 minutes there’s going to be questions to answer and accusations to respond to. Better hurry up.

   

  Awww…she’s jealous and insecure.

   

  This sounds cute at first, but eventually it will get on your damn nerves. All of her snooping in your phone, smelling you d*ck and counting condoms will get tiring. An insecure woman drains your energy. She stunts your personal growth because your time is misspent trying to reassure her all the time.

   

  BROTHERLY LOVE...
  
  Sisters, I love you enough to support you while you get help to be healed and delivered from your inner turmoil and unresolved issues. As your brother, it pains me to see you settling for love-blocking behaviors and life-limiting beliefs. I sincerely believe that you can rise from the muck and mire and truly walk in your gifting as a vessel of virtue. I believe that you can be reconciled with men by submitting to that tugging on your heart and committing to the transformational process of change.

   

  Yes, I know that you have faced many hurdles in life. I hear you when you complain about being victimized by patriarchal systems that oppress you. I have seen the effects of the hurtful words, actions and deeds of males posing as man inflicted upon you.

   

  It’s time to take off the Superwoman cape. It’s time to admit that you’ve had your Sojourner Truth moment, where you’ve grown sick and tired of being sick and tired and you’re ready to turn the page and write the next chapter of your life’s testimony. It’s time to move beyond merely being a survivor to becoming a thriver.

   

  A real man doesn’t want a fake woman. If you’re authentic self is hurt and in need of healing, then get help. Don’t hide out wearing the mask of strength in the public and crying in the dark. Deal with your issues. Stop seeking a strong man when you haven’t dealt with your feeling like a wronged woman. Get help.

   

  Here are just a few signs she maybe an abuser:

  • Fakes PMS just to excuse her lashing out (monitor and document her cycle)
  • Refers to your “little” friends, etc. condescendingly
  • Calls or texts and flips out when you don’t respond immediately
  • Makes “a real man would…” comments to wound you verbally

   

  Don’t allow people to “play” with you in ways that you are uncomfortable with. Even if a person doesn’t physically hurt you while “playing” they are sowing the seeds to later victimize you.

   

  Did you get “chick slapped”? Does she have a hand and mouth problem? Are you sick and tired of the physical and verbal abuse? 

   

  Many abusers will rationalize their violence as being stressed-related. Women abusers hide behind “PMS” and post partum depression (PPD) as the basis for their violent lashing out.

   

  I oftentimes say, “Good head can give you bad credit,” and most folks chuckle at the realness of that statement. However, good head can also kill you as well. Just because she gives you “good” head that doesn’t excuse the reality that she’s a head case that has problems. R-U-N!!!

Men hurt just as women hurt. Men love just as women love.
