This past week CNN revisited their Black In America documentary series. The second installment was advertised as being more of a solution based featured as oppose to what they showed last year. So the question now is what does it really mean to be Black In America. We will talk about the series as well as the Henry Louis Gates Jr. arrest and Pres. Obama's subsequent response to that arrest. We will also be talking about the Philly swimmers who were denied access to a country club swimming pool. We will be joined by cultural critic Roland Laird as well as other guest panelist. Please tune in at 6 pm EST if you would like to join in on the conversation. Call 718-664-6383 to make a comment or ask a question. Roland Laird is the author of "Still I Rise: A Graphic History of African Americans", a critically acclaimed work with an impressive scope: the entire history of Black America told in an accessible 216 page graphic-novel form. Re-released in February 2009, it extends from the arrival of the first Africans in 1619 right through to Senator Barack Obama's groundbreaking presidential campaign. In addition to authoring Still I Rise, Roland is the CEO of Posro Media, an entertainment production company that explores African American history and culture in a variety of formats including comic books, radio, video, and film.
