The Holy Day of Atonement- 12th Anniversary of the Million Man March

  • Join Us October 17th, 2007  in this Discussion
  •
  • Twelve years ago, one of the greatest signs of spirituality manifested on the National Mall in Washington D.C. A call was given for Black men to participate in making a commitment that would alter the course of how they were viewed by God, their families, and a world that has criminalised, demoralised, and marginalised them. The call was not to a public outing to the state capitol, but to an inward journey that starts with Atonement and then reconciliation with our Creator, and with self and then our families who bore the pain of our negative condition. Though the adversaries attempted to diminish what God manifested in a crowd of close to 2 million people and try to separate the caller (The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan) from the call. What those of us who were there saw was a glimpse of heaven on earth. There was positive change that took place all over the country and none of us would claim total victory. We have much work that must be done. Since then we suffered Katrina, we struggle against Black on Black fratricide and hatred, we are bombarded with dysfunctional expression of culture serving as food for the madness, and we are attacked now from remote places like Jena, Louisianna bearing witness that not much has really changed in America. We have work to do  and not lose sight of the process of restoration, ressurrection and liberation that we were called to participate in 12 years ago. We want to explore the road to our healing and discuss where we are 12 yrs later since our glimpse into heaven October 16th 1995.
