Eugene is an educator, author, speaker, and former childhood actor who has appeared on BET, CNN, NBC, and CBS. His writings and opinions have also been featured in publications such as The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Miami Herald, The Boston Globe, The Detroit Free Press and Jet Magazine. He has spoken at colleges, high schools, and churches throughout the country, spreading the message that, “Education can serve as ‘the great equalizer’ for those who have been denied success for socioeconomic or historical reasons.” Eugene holds a B.A. in English from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and a M.Ed. in Education Leadership from The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. Over the course of the past fifteen years, Eugene has worked as a community organizer, a Center Director for Sylvan Learning Systems, an SAT instructor for Studyworks, and a high school English teacher. Both he and his wife, Jewel, are currently serving as secondary school administrators in central Virginia where they reside with their daughter, Paige. Eugene and Jewel are the co-founders of Wiseducators, a company designed to show people how educational achievement, the pursuit of personal growth, and a positive attitude can combine to create opportunities for success.
