Human Trafficking has become a serious issue in Atlanta, GA whereby the Judges at the Fulton County Courthouse took action and founded the organization Youth Spark, Inc.

Previous Atlanta Mayor, Shirley Franklin, launched the "Dear John" program in 2006 to purposefully attack the problem of child prostitution in the city of Atlanta. Dear John” is a public education campaign to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children, with Mayor Shirley Franklin, the youthSpark and a wide-range of supporters. The campaign seeks to educate and activate audiences to help stem the problem, which also results in children withdrawing from schools and their families, entering into poverty and becoming more susceptible to health risks.

Allison Hood serves as the Program Coordinator for youthSpark. She works to provides support for the Stop Child Sex Trafficking Program, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work from Georgia State University.
