She grew up in Ohio, raised by a gun-collecting father and a loving mother. For her 18th birthday instead of the usual pretty piece of jewelry as most girls would receive, she was given a shotgun so that she could continue trap-shooting every Friday night with her dad. Those Friday nights with him are some of her great memories. Plus, going to gun shows with him on weekends when she was younger gave her an appreciation and respect for firearms. She still loves target shooting, and her and her husband are passing along the same respect and enjoyment of firearms to our children.
The experiences she's had while living on a small farm and the knowledge of an ex-military husband have lent to the specific detail and accuracy with which she can write the many topics within these novels. This is a visually beautiful trilogy set against the backdrop of a lovely, tranquil farm in direct contrast with an end-of-the-world landscape of destroyed and fallen cities.

In her book, The McClane Apocalypse Book One Reagan McClane is a prodigy medical student studying at Ohio State University when the apocalypse begins. She barely makes it home to her beloved family in Tennessee after a brutal life or death attack at her school. Nuclear war and rogue tsunamis ravage the coastlines of America and Europe decimating tens of millions of lives.
