We Play The Best In Quartet Music And Give The Best Quartet Interviews Our Guest Is The Newson Family Here There Bio!!!! Elder Henry Newson Sr. & The Newson Family Singers of Toledo, Ohio Henry Newson Sr. was born in Sunflower County, Mississippi. Henry Sr. started singing with the Ruleville Harmonizers out of Mississippi in 1946 and sang with them for about 8 years. Moving from Mississippi to Memphis, Tennessee he joined The Sunset Travelers. He sang with the Sunset Travelers from 1958 until 1962. During the time that Henry sang with The Sunset Travelers, his wife, brother-in-law and daughter sang with a group called The Zionettes out of Mississippi. Henry Sr. and his wife, Doris decided to move to Toledo, Ohio where they formed a duet group called The Wheeler Singers. He and his wife sung together as a duet for about twenty years. While singing with his wife, he also sang with other local groups of the city of Toledo, such as The Pilgrim Wonders, The Phillip Temple Harmonizers, The Spirits of Joy and The Clefs of Joy. Henry Sr. and Doris were blessed with seven children throughout their course of marriage, singing and serving God. They had one daughter and six sons. The Newson’s ministry grew. While preaching and pastoring several churches, Henry Sr. and his wife began to see the abundance of gifts they had among their children and formed a family gospel singing group, called Elder Henry Newson Sr. & The Newson Family Singers. The Newson Family Singers were blessed to travel to many states. They were also blessed to be guests on the “Toledo Sings Gospel” television show for several years. One day, the Lord knew what was best and decided to complete a bouquet, therefore picking the rose of the Newson Family, Doris N. Newson. The homegoing of Doris was very hard for the Newson Family Singers, resulting in them taking a break form singing as a group for a while.
