People love their pets, sometimes more than their own relatives. In fact, it is a $53 billion dollar industry. Pet owners are becoming increasingly demanding consumers who won't put up with substandard products, un-stimulating environments, or shoddy service for their animals. However, most people have no clue what they are feeding their animal companions. That is, they are buying recommended pet food products from vets and whatever seems to keep their furry friend happy. The problem is the labels do not disclose what the food is actually made from. Pet food is the only industry in the United States that is legally allowed to lie to consumers. It is the ONLY food industry in the United States that is allowed to violate federal laws. Susan Thixton is the leading international advocate and expert on pet food. She has been fighting against big Pet Food and Big Government for the last 2 decades. If there was a superhero for pets, she has clearly earned the name, “The caped crusader for Pet Food!” One of the main problems is that there is no matriculated program to teach pet nutrition. If there are any programs offered, the education provided, is in the form of a seminar that is sponsored by veterinarians that work for Science Diet, Purina, Iams, Mars Pet Care which is now Royal Canin and Proctor & Gamble. This is biased. The FDA has policies that allow pet food to violate federal law and no one is doing anything about it because it is such a profitable industry. It isn’t as though your pet is going to complain. They don’t have a voice but people like Susan do! In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, Susan Thixton, Animal Advocate and Founder of the Truth About Pet Food (http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com.com) will be my guest to talk about what is really in your pet’s food. Stay tuned!
