Based on an early novel by spy smasher "Jack Higgins", and directed by Mike Hodges (the original GET CARTER, THE TERMINAL MAN, FLASH GORDON, CROUPIER), A PRAYER FOR THE DYING would prove "before it's time" as one of a handful of films making it acceptable to combine serious social concerns with the pulp genre mileu - a'la later Tom Clancy-esque thrillers such as PATRIOT GAMES and THE SUM OF ALL FEARS.
