Celebrating Men on Fire-The Measure of a Man
Dr. Clarence Jay Jackson was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from Mercy College (B.A. in marketing), Columbia University (MBA) and New York University (Masters of Sociology concentrated in Black and Latino Studies.). The unexpected death of his mentor, Jon Jay would be the catalyst that would prompt Dr. Jackson into changing careers from music marketing to social services. Taking a philosophy passed down to him from his late mentor, Dr. Jackson would dig deep into researching racial trauma and identity development. Believing that self-education and formal education should go hand and hand, Dr. Clarence Jay Jackson sought out information on Pan African culture and history that directly correlated with his study of racial trauma and identity. Uncovering his own traumas, Dr. Jackson would obtain certifications in trauma counseling and drug screening/counseling.
In 2010 Dr. Jackson would go on the first Measure of a Man speaking tour, debuting his newly organized and written curriculum. The tour was made through his various connections at different institutions of higher education along the east coast. The tour would give Dr. Clarence Jay Jackson the momentum to finalize the necessary paperwork and procedures to found the G.F. Brand Foundation in April of 2011.
It's good to talk.
