Photobucket Join us as we welcome Brother Norris J to the show. This morning our Scripture focus is (John 5:30). where Jesus himself shares the need to have guidance. The scripture reads “By myself I can do nothing” I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself, but him who sent me (NIV). Today, we need the guidance of God for daily directions. Have you ever been in a place and you knew you shouldn’t be? Your spirit warns you, but you refuse to obey. What about our youth today, are they not getting the guidance they need? Are we mentoring them to follow Christ, or not? Today, Brother Norris will share his testimony. He was born in the inner city of Fort Worth, TX on November 9, 1976. He is the second eldest of 4 children. Growing up in a divorced family home, he battled many challenges similar to today's urban teenager, such as low self-esteem, wanting to fit in, street life and peer pressure. Music was a great escape from the world around him. His love for singing, hip-hop and rapping provided a release of creativity. Norris was led to the Lord at an early age. As a teenager in the church, he loved the Lord, but knew that "hip-hop [was] the language of the streets". He wanted to reach his peers by engaging them through music they could relate to. He started writing in order to minister the word through music. Norris received rave reviews for his writing which definitely ministered to all those who heard. His style is very relevant to pop culture, but the main focus is on praising God. Although his music is geared toward our youth, it touches the lives of anyone in need of encouragement. His passion is to be a voice for a young generation, which would meet them where they are.
