We will look at some concepts used by family therapists as they use or draw from structural family theory such as family rules, roles, coalitions, subsystems, boundaries, wholeness, organization, and triangulation as well as methods used to promote healing such as reframing. This model's major thesis is that an individual's symptoms are best understood as rooted in the context of family transaction patterns and therefore that a change in family organization or structure must take place before symptoms are relieved. Check it out and see if these concepts could help you or your family find more balance and happiness. Sometimes when the light of understanding is shown on a situation it becomes much easier to make positive change.
