NO CALLS BEING TAKEN - REBROADCAST -  SHOW IS NOT LIVE

I will be traveling to Left Forum in NY, so Thursday Night will be a rebroadcast. This rebroadcast is a “must listen” interview by Vania Gulston of On the Block Radio. The guest is Bonnie Kerness, of the American Friends Service Committee Prison Watch Project. Ms Kerness is a dedicated activist who had her first contact with the atrocities of solitary in 1986 when Ojore Lutalo, a black revolutionary in the Trenton State Prison wrote to Bonnie at the AFSC office in Newark. His letter described the extreme isolation and other brutalities in the prison’s Management Control Unit, which he called a “prison within a prison.” She could not believe what she was being told and immediately became “the lunatic white lady” calling New Jersey corrections officials. Coordinator of the AFSC’s national Prison Watch Project, she worked on prison issues since the mid-1970s. She is now an anti-solitary-confinement activist. She has been one longer and more consistently than, possibly, anyone else. Ms. Kerness is also going to discuss the Dallas 6 case and its relevancy in the conversations of political prisoners and torture in solitary confinement.
