Update 12/7/09: FYI regarding tonight's show! The show scheduled for 12/7 has been postponed, as one guest is sick, and Al is having plumbing issues at home...not that kind, the septic tank kind! (Trust me, you don't want to know) We are going to reschedule the NHL Roundtable for Monday, 12/21/09.--------- Please remember we're moving the show's start time from 11 PM to 9 PM as of next Monday, 12/14/09. We think it'll be more convenient for both guests and listeners! Here's our written in pencil guest list for the next few weeks: Dec. 14: Gregory Shamus, one of the best sports photographers you’ll ever know (Getty Images, Pittsburgh Penguins, Red Wings, Cleveland Cavaliers, and others); don’t forget—this will be our first 9:00 show! 12/21: NHL Central roundtable with Bleacher Report writers from Columbus, Chicago, Nashville, and St. Louis. We're doing our best to book guests every week, so please check back at the show page (or check our Twitter feed!) to see who will turn up on our next podcast! Remember, The Knee Jerks have a Twitter account for our weekly podcast! It's Twitter.com/TheKneeJerks. You'll get the latest on guest news and show reminders, so please follow! Show Notes

The Knee Jerks began as a popular weekly chat feature between a pair of long running Detroit sports blogs, The Wayne Fontes Experience (WayneFontes.com) and Out of Bounds (GregEno.com). The web chat morphed into an every Monday night podcast. Your hosts are layabout blogger Big Al Beaton of TWFE, aka Mr. Blogger, and prolific freelance writer Greg Eno of OoB, aka Mr. Journalist. We cover the gamut of the sports landscape, but with a Detroit slant and a Detroit attitude.

On tonight's show (The first in our new time slot of 9 PM eastern, 8 PM central, 6 PM on the west coast and 10:30 PM in Newfoundland!): We take a slight detour on this episode of The Knee Jerks, as we talk sports photography with Greg Shamus. Greg's site, filled with tons of great NHL shots, is www.shamusphoto.com. Greg main gig is official photographer for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but we'll cut him some slack, as he is also a native Detroiter. He's a graduate of the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, and got his start working for Downriver's News-Herald newspaper. Before working with the Pens, Greg was the NBA team photographer for the New Orleans Hornets for 6 years. His freelance photography can be found all over the media and web with Getty Images. Once he move on from the shutterbug side of sports, you can expect us to touch on the latest from the Detroit Tigers' hot stove, the Lions fight for the 1st overall draft pick, the Red Wings battling back from injuries or the Pistons' struggle to mesh on the court. As always, we'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!

You can expect us to touch on the latest from the Detroit Tigers' hot stove, the Lions losing another Thanksgiving Day game, the Red Wings doing their best to battle back from injuries and the Pistons' struggle to mesh on the court, and battle the injury bug. As always, we'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! The Knee Jerks - Detroit Sports Talk with Eno and Big Al - Big 10 post mortem

(Note from Big Al: There's a 2 minute long drop approximately 1:05 into the show. Comcast decided to hiccup and knocked me off line temporarily.) On tonight's show: It's a college football post mortem on The Knee Jerks! With the end of the Big 10 season at hand, we dissect the disappointing years of both the Wolverines and Spartans. For the Michigan point of view, joining us is Andy Reid (no, not the Eagles coach!), who's the sports editor for the Michigan Daily, U of M's school newspaper. (www:michigandaily.com/section/sports) For the MSU side of the Big 10 season, we have Bleacher Report featured columnist Nick Mordowanec. Nick's coverage of the Spartans can be found at http://bit.ly/5JaI2H. After getting our Big 10 football fix, we'll move on to our thoughts regarding the past week in Detroit sports. Expect us to touch on the latest from the Detroit Tigers' hot stove, the Lions fight for the 1st overall draft pick, the Red Wings battling back from injuries or the Pistons' struggle to mesh on the court. As always, we'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!

The Knee Jerks - Detroit Sports Talk with Eno and Big Al - Ansar Kahn

On tonight's show: It's a hockey-centric Knee Jerks, as we talk all things Detroit Red Wings and NHL with Ansar Kahn. Khan has been the Red Wings beat writer for Mlive.com and Booth Newspapers since the 2000-01 season, and for several years prior to that for the Oakland Press. You can get the latest Red Wings insight from Kahn at http://www.mlive.com/redwings/ After getting the scoop on the Wings and NHL, the Knee Jerks will spew all sort of thoughts on the past week of Detroit sports. Tigers: We'll give our thoughts on all the trade rumors surrounding the supposed availability of Curtis Granderson, Edwin Jackson, Brandon Inge and even Miguel Cabrera. Lions: Another Sunday, another loss. Same old, same old, right? Not exactly, as Matthew Stafford showed a toughness in getting beat up by an aggressive Vikings defense we haven't seen in years from a Lions' QB. Coming up for the Lions is a huge game with the Browns, as the 1st overall pick in 2010 may be at stake. Wolverines: Another Saturday, another loss. Another Monday, another possible NCAA "issue". But it is tOSU week, so could it be possible the staggering to the end of the season Wolverines can step up their game? Uh...no. However, John Beilein's basketball team started the season with a bang, as Manny Harris had a triple double in a win over NMU. Funny how the Wolverines' fanbase is now pinning all their winning hopes on the hoopsters, when they were persona non grata a little more than two years ago. Pistons: Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon are showing signs of being a solid one-two scoring punch . Even more unexpected is the offensive firepower backup PG Will Bynum is bringing off the bench and the surprisingly effective Ben Wallace. At the end of the show, we'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!

The Knee Jerks - Detroit Sports Talk with Eno and Big Al - Lions Roundtable

On tonight's show: As we're not expecting Jose Canseco to come through, Eno and Big Al have a backup plan. A Lions roundtable! Making their second appearance on The Knee Jerks are Bleacher Report's featured Lions columnists, Michael Schottey (Michael's bio: http://bit.ly/3MIUrN) and Dean Holden (Dean's bio: http://bit.ly/10OWY3). Michael also writes for the RoarReport.com and DraftTek.com, and is the Producer/Host of The Average Joe Sports Show (860AM KNUJ/KNUJ.net--6:05 PM EST each Sunday). Along with writing for The Bleacher Report, Dean is also the "Voice of the Lions" on NFLTouchdown.com (nfltouchdown.com/category/detroit-lions/). As you might guess, we'll discuss Matthew Stafford's flameout in Seattle along with the current status of the Detroit Lions. Michael and Dean will give us their midseason grades, and just how they expect the Lions to finish the season. We'll tackle the who, what, where, how and why of the Detroit Lions' season to this point. After the Lions-fest, Eno and Big Al will take on the stories of the day in Detroit. Michigan Wolverines: After a pair of ugly losses to Illinois and Purdue, where do the Wolverines, and more importantly, Rich Rodriguez, go from here? Detroit Red Wings: Another day, another debilitating injury, as Jason Williams breaks his leg. Will GM Ken Holland continue to plug the ever widening roster holes from within? Detroit Pistons: Injuries are the story with the Pistons as well, as Rip Hamilton has missed all but one game with a sprained ankle, and Tayshaun Prince is out indefinitely with a ruptured disc in his back. Could the vets going down be a blessing in disguise? Will the remaining Pistons, who are extremely young and need to gel as a team, step up and show they can play in the NBA? As always, to end the show we'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!

The Knee Jerks - Detroit Sports Talk with Eno and Big Al - Matt Hutter of BR

On tonight's show: Jose Canseco had to cancel, and ask if we could touch base with him next Monday. So doing us a huge solid, appearing with little notice, our guest tonight is Matt Hutter, a Featured Red Wings columnist for Bleacher Report. (Matt's columns can be found at: http://bit.ly/19wIdi) Matt is a long-time Red Wings fan who is based out on the Left Coast. Yes, a Wings fan in Cali. After our Red Wings chat with Matt, we'll discuss the latest news in Detroit sports. After we talk with Matt, we'll get down to brass tacks, and talk Detroit sports. Detroit Lions: Was your confidence in the new regime shaken by a bad loss to the Rams? Stan Kwan, enemy of the people, or the anti-Christ? Detroit Pistons: From the first 3 games of the season, is it too soon to think we are watching a lottery team? Or are they a playoff team with so many new parts, they need time to gel? Detroit Red Wings: Injuries, injuries and more injuries, as Valtteri Filppula is out at least 6 – 8 weeks with a broken wrist. What's next? Wait...I don't want to know... Michigan Wolverines: When asked by the Wall St. Journal, the Michigan brass said they would have patience in regard to Rich Rodriguez. As an example, president Mary Sue Coleman used Tommy Ammaker, who got 6 years to run the basketball program into the ground. That was at least 2 years too much, if you ask fans of the Woilverines. Michigan St. Spartans: The Spartans had much higher expectations than the Wolverines. If Rich Rodriguez is on the hot seat, shouldn't Mark Dantonio be on an even hotter seat? As always, to end the show, Eno and Big Al will also name their respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!

The Knee Jerks - Detroit Sports Talk with Eno and Big Al - Eno & Al fill in

On tonight's show: We have a change in the schedule, as the Karras camp had to cancel Alex's appearance. So, barring our finding a last minute guest, the Knee Jerks will get to their usual jerkitude right from the start of the show, talking the latest in Detroit sports. Detroit Tigers - Carlos Guillen went to the media to bitch about his playing time, and Jim Leyland capitulated, naming him the starting LF for 2010. Detroit Lions - Are coming off a bye week with the injury status of their 2 most important players, Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, still up in the air. Detroit Red Wings - Long-time Red Wings exec Jimmy Devellano has been quoted saying the Wings' fanbase should lower their expectations for this season. If time permits, we'll try to touch on the Michigan Wolverines ugly loss to the Nittany Lions and the Michigan St. Spartans heartbreaking loss to the Hawkeyes. At the end of the show, The Knee Jerks will name their respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!

The Knee Jerks - Detroit Sports Talk with Eno and Big Al - Bob Page Returns!

On tonight's show: We bring back one of our most popular and entertaining guests, Detroit's favorite son who made good in NYC, Bob Page! The ever opinionated Page last joined us back in June, in what was one of The Knee Jerks' most listened to episodes. Bob has a passion for college football, so you can expect plenty of talk about the Spartans and Wolverines, along with whatever else is on the long-time broadcaster's mind. After spending time with Bob, we'll discuss the Lions taking a big step backward while getting shut out by a not very good Packers team. We'll also touch on the Red Wings, including their latest late game collapse, a weekend OT loss to the dreaded Avalanche. We'll have some college football talk as well, specifically why the University of Michigan bothered to schedule D-II Delaware St, in what turned out to be little more than a varsity vs. JV scrimmage. We'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 11PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!
