PLEASE NOTE: This is a pre-recorded edited version of Monday's show (11/16/09). I had to fix some things due to technical difficulties. Please do not try to call in tonight! ------------ I hope you tuned in to parts 1 & 2 of this recurring segment because tonight my guest host, MC K~Swift (New Rap Order/Universal Zulu Nation) and I will discuss the era of Hip Hop that followed gangsta rap: the trendsetters and such that popped up and either stayed or faded away after the whole east coast-west coast feud was LITERALLY buried (RIP Biggie & 'Pac). And most importantly, I'll be cracking jokes on how FUGLY Lil Wayne is... no, but seriously, he's FUGLY! Make sure you also stop by the blog and participate in this week's poll: Did Lil Wayne Kill Hip Hop? I'm curious to see that you say...

Being Plus Sized in a Size Zero World

What did we miss in the broadcast, if anything, on what it's like to be a "big girl" in this society??

There's the stigmas attached to body size, the discrimination and the subsequent internalization of the negativity society spews about fat or obese people.

How do we justify the Skinny-Minnie models when the majority of the country is on average a size 14?

    What are your thoughts?

Being Plus-Sized in a Size Zero World

The average person in America is a size 12, a size considered to be plus-sized in the fashion world. What kind of message does that send? Is a size 12 really PLUS? And does that mean the same thing for both men AND women? Join me tonight as Irene (www.LosingIrene.com)joins me to discuss the repercussions of such strict size standards on society.

    Child Rearing 101: Toddlers

Sorry that we didn't hear from anyone tonight- did you have any questions or comments on dealing with your toddler?

Any subject we didn't touch upon?

Oh wait- I know a couple that I really wanted to mention but ran out of time... hygiene and clothing.

1- Don't listen to doctors that tell you kids need not bathe every day... WASH YOUR DAMN KIDS. EVERY. DAY. They get dirty. Every. Day. So they need to be washed. Thoroughly. Everywhere. Every. Day.

2- Please... just because you like to floss, don't deck your kids out in designer duds. Unless you're a celebrity, ain't no reason Junior has to be wearing Gucci, Pucci, or any other Italian stuff. Besides, kids grow at warp speed; buying expensive clothes for a kid is like flushing money down the toilet.

    Interracial Dating

Last night's show was not only fun for me (as usual) but it was informative.

I've said up and down and all around that I have no interest in dating a white guy, all the while ignoring the fact that because I date black men it is still, technically, interracial dating. As in, my babies are bi-racial. Or are they? Should we get into the technicalities of race vs. ethnicity??

My guest host, Muireann brought up some really great points, namely that interracial dating is only a problem when the parties involved are attractive, and mainly more of a problem when the couple is a black man with a white woman.

Do you agree? Or are there black women hating on me, too, for dating black men?

Is this more of a major issue in America, as Muireann hinted to, or is this a global issue?

Does it matter where you grew up/went to school?

And what will this interracial coupling mean for their future bi-racial babies?

Will our world one day just be a whole bunch of different shades of beige running around, as an eventual and unavoidable evolutionary occurrence? And is that good or bad? How will it affect our individual cultures and histories?

I'd love to hear what you all have to say!

Interracial Dating- Is It Still Taboo?

Living in NYC, I see all kinds of couples all the time, but sometimes I must admit to staring a little hard at interracial couples. Not with hate, but with curiosity- How did they meet? Are their parents okay with the union? How do they deal with the STARES? Is it just a Black-White thing? And most importantly- don't they know interracial dating is still taboo? Or wait- isn't it? Tune in as Muireann, the most awesomest British chick online (writer of the hilarious www.bangsandabun.blogspot.com), joins me to discuss this sometimes heated and controversial topic. You know you want to listen!
